Training

 

We would love to have you as a volunteer with VCC Emergencies Ministry.  VCC EM volunteers can be deployed to a wide range of emergency and disaster events and need to be as equipped as possible for the work they do.

VCC EM training is a comprehensive training package designed to equip members of faith communities to support affected residents through their participation in VCC EM deployments

The Process

In order to become a volunteer with VCC EM you will need to complete following steps

  1.           Check out our code of conduct at http://www.vccem.org.au/code-of-conduct24
  2. Register as a Volunteer via this link, including details of a referee connected to your faith community.  This will open in a new tab and will take you to our volunteer management system (called Better Impact) where you will to create an account and provide VCC EM with your information. (To make it easier for yourself to remember – consider using your email address as your username)   

  3. Volunteers who are already with VCC EM can register for training below and can skip step 2.
  4.           Register below to attend a training session (no less than 7 days before its scheduled date)
  5.       An email confirmation will immediately be sent, including a link to the Pre-work.  Please check your junk/spam folders if it doesn’t land in your inbox and email us via emergencies@vccem.org.au
  6.       Complete the self-paced learning and return it to VCC EM via Email – emergencies@vccem.org.au or                                                         post to VCC EM. PO Box 832. Port Melbourne. 3207.
  7.       Attend the training program

Completion of the workbook and attendance at the training are essential prerequisites for application for Registration with VCC Emergencies Ministry. 

Successful registration as a deployable volunteer will require the completion of safety checks including a National Criminal History Check, Working with Children’s check & Receipt of referee proforma.

Psychological First Aid/Personal Support

The training course is a 2 stage process involving;

  • Self paced learning and completion of the workbook. This material must be completed at least 3 days prior to attending the training day.
    Face to face training day. This day utilises multi learning opportunities including teaching, discussion, personal reflection and role playing / scenarios to enable the trainee to assimilate the information and understand the context, roles, responsibilities and processes involved.
  • Completion of the workbook and attendance at the training are essential prerequisites for application for registration with VCC Emergencies Ministry. Successful registration will require the completion of safety checks including a National Criminal History Check and referee reports and will occur after the training has been completed.
